Xiang Yun Sha is one of the rarest textiles in the world. Produced in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong province, it is made from pure mulberry silk that is immersed repeatedly in the juice of the Shu Liang root. A plant long used in traditional Chinese medicine, before being sealed with a fine layer of river mud and dried slowly beneath the open sky. The result is a fabric that is singular in both character and touch: matte, weightless, and alive with a depth that only deepens with age.

The tannins in the Shu Liang root give Xiang Yun Sha its natural antimicrobial and odour-resistant properties, making it a considered choice for those with sensitive skin. It also resists creasing with remarkable ease.

Because of this, we recommend cleaning your Xiang Yun Sha garments only when genuinely necessary. The fabric performs best when left to breathe.

We recommend hand washing, use a mild detergent and cool to lukewarm water. Gently swirl the garment for five to ten minutes — never wring or rub the fabric. Gently Press out excess water, then pat dry with a clean towel and either hang or lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. Professional dry cleaning is equally suitable and always a safe option.

A note on colour: Xiang Yun Sha is dyed using a natural, plant-based process, and the dye sets organically.  You may notice a small amount of colour releasing into the water during the first wash or two. This is entirely normal and is a mark of the fabric's authenticity.
